The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai word siringet, that means “endless plain”.
Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous and beautiful parks in the world, forms, together with both Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Maasai Mara (Kenya) areas, a unique ecosystem crossed throughout the year by the migratory phenomena (the Great Migration) that follow the seasons.
The fauna in the park is incredible. Here you can meet, in addition to the “Big Five” (lions, leopards, elephants, black rhinos and buffaloes), all the other animals such as cheetahs, hippos, gazelles, giraffes, antelopes and crocodiles that live here in the area. Moreover, wildebeests and zebras can also be spotted easily, as they are most involved in migration. Additionally, for the bird watchers, there are over 100 different species of birds to spot.
